ARTIST STATEMENT
My art journey started a long time ago, but it wasn't until I neared retirement that I was able to dedicate time to my passion for both watercolor painting and metal artwork.
I was raised in western Montana on a farm where we lived frugally and learned to work hard. I spent most of my adult life in the Automotive Industry, both as a technician and as an instructor at the college level.
Much of my artwork, in particular the watercolors paintings, represent my passion for the memories of my country upbringing. For a period of time in my early twenties, I worked for a German immigrant blacksmith artist. Much of my iron work reflects the skills I learned in that time period.
All of the work on this site is my original work. The work is divided into two major areas, metal work and watercolor paintings. Each area has an extensive portfolio with the intent of showing the scope of my work for those that might wish to consider commissioning me to complete a project. The pieces that are for sale or as ideas for custom work are listed under the link ‘ITEMS FOR SALE.’ This list will change with sales and inventory.
I am open to building custom pieces. My particular interest is in garden sculptures, garden gates, and pieces that might go well with a water feature. such as blue herons. As this is both a hobby and a passion, prices are reasonable. Please contact me at axtpw@comcast.net for quotes and ideas.
